Please tell us a little bit about yourself
I am 42, I have been married 20 years and have two daughters, 13 and 16. I am retired from federal service with the Air Force and Bureau of Prisons. I am originally from the central coast of California and currently reside in Darlington, South Carolina due to a government promotion for my wife.
How did you first get interested in this hobby/passion?
I have been into classic anything since I can remember but mostly classic cars. I have always thought they are like works of art and I am sad that the era of real car design is behind us. When I was younger I would put models together and always dreamed of someday owning the real thing.
What Rides do you currently own?
I own an all original 1955 Chevy Bel Air and a 2007 Harley Davidson Deluxe that I am trying to make look like a 60’s era Duo Glide.
What do you like most about your Cool Rides?
Honestly, for my 55 Chevy, the smell. Call me crazy but I love the smell of old cars! Not smoked in or new interiors but that well maintained, original classic car smell. For my bike, the freedom of the open road and the fact that you are not looking at scenery but rather you are a part of it.
What is the best memory you have with your favorite ride?
Hanging out with friends at car shows, it’s so relaxing and fun. I get to talk cars, look at cars, clean my car, drive my car…it’s a win win win.
How do you store your ride(s) during infrequent use, and what maintenance tips can you provide for readers?
My car and bike ALWAYS get used as much as possible but I try and put pure gas in both so the water does not separate in the fuel if it’s been a couple weeks. My advice is to drive or ride them! Don’t let them sit and get flat spotted tires and dried up seals.
What was the first car you ever owned?
A 78 Fiat X/19. It was a small sports car and had a removable top. I really enjoyed that car even though it broke down a lot. When I left for boot camp in 92, it was impounded because they thought I abandoned it. When I got back they wanted a ton of money for storage fees or sign over my pink slip. Since I was only an Airman, I had to let her go.
What is/was the BEST car ever made?
Duh! The Hot One! The 1955 Chevy!!!!
What is/was the WORST car ever made?
I really can’t say, I love them all. If it has wheels and an engine, I like it!
How did you first hear about the Cool Rides Online website?
From a friend that is a member of Cool Rides Online. He told me how cool your site is so I joined up!
Is there anything else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?
I consider myself pretty well rounded in that I have many passions and likes. I love music and making music (drummer), art, antique anything, motorcycles, classic cars…it goes on and on.
