Featured Member of the Week: Uncle Jr

1971 Road Runner-2This week we are featuring Ken Allegar, owner of a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner and this week’s featured ride.  Ken works as a preventive maintenance technician.   Ken is a father of three and a proud grandfather of three as well, congratulations Ken!!!

So how did Ken finally land on our Cool Rides Online family?  “I came across it on Facebook and it appeared to be an interesting page and to be honest it is”, well thank you Ken and we couldn’t be happier to have you share this amazing car with us. Apart from owning this amazing roadrunner, Ken also owns a 2005 Mustang GT.

Ken bought the Roadrunner back in 1977 from his neighbor, who he says used it as a drag car.  Ken drove it for five years, before putting it away for twenty six years, but the great thing is that he kept it.  Then he began the restoration and he has been driving and taking it to local shows.  Ken mentions that the restoration project was meant to be between him and his father.  Unfortunately, Ken lost his father “Rip Dad” I am truly sorry for your lost.  So he took it upon himself and with help from a friend at times to finish the restoration.  Ken mentions that his father was a great mechanic and that he thought him everything that he knew.  I am sure that he would have been proud at how well everything turned out.

As far as additional work on the Roadrunner, Ken mentions that” I may change the brakes over to a different set of disc brakes, It has four wheel disc now that I put on but may go to different make or manufacturer”.

There many memories that it is hard for Ken to mention one specifically, so let’s just say that we hope that you continue to have many more.  Who knows maybe soon those memories will involve a 32’ Ford Coupe Street Rod, as Ken mentions this as being his dream car.
