Featured Member of the Week: Randall Broughton

Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Randall I’m 58 years old I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I was discovered waiting in an old barn where my previous owner left me for 6 years. I was in need of some long over due attention then my present owner found me and took pride in what he had found, boy was I glad.

My original owner was an upholster by trade and I was in need of a new coat of paint. Since my owner didn’t know how to paint, he did the next best thing, and that was to do what he knows best.

I was taken completely apart and sprayed with a high temperature glue then Covered with marine vinyl so that I can be in the hot sun or rain without losing my new look.  I can’t really say when he started on me all that I can remember is that I was apart for a long time and that I was back on the road in 1990.

I like the new look that he gave me, which makes meONEOF A KIND.  I hope that you like the new look also.  I do take some getting use too!

How did you first get interested in this hobby/passion?

I’ve always been interested in old cars.

I currently own a 1966 Ford Mustang, 2012 Ford Focus, 1997 Chevy S10 pickup and a 2002 Kia Sportage.

What I like most about Cool Rides is that it allows you the opportunity to show off your Cool Ride to others that might not have the opportunity to see it at a car show.

What is the best memory you have with your favorite ride?

The best memory I have is when I saw it for the first time. I could not be leave what I found.

How do you store your ride(s) during infrequent use, and what maintenance tips can you provide for readers?

My car is stored in the garage when not used. What I would tell readers is that simply take pride in your Cool Ride; treat it with respect and kindness because every Cool Ride is something very special.

What was the first car you ever owned?

My first car was a 1959 Oldsmobile.

What is/was the BEST car ever made?

Best car ever made for me was the Ford Mustang.

What is/was the WORST car ever made?

The worst car ever made would have to be the Pinto.

How did you first hear about the Cool Rides Online website?

While looking for 303 product for my Vinyl Pony I ran across the Gold Eagle web site. After correspondence with Marcel Manzano, I was introduce to Cool Rides.

Is there anything else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?

Other than my interest in old cars and enjoying the outdoors, my dream is to one day be a player on Survivor. I’ve been trying year after year, season after season. Giving up isn’t an option; if I did then it would be only just a dream.
