Please tell us a little bit about yourself…
I am a VietNam War Zone Veteran (1967-1968) and retired from both IBM (17 years) and Lockheed Martin (13 years). I have been married for almost 44 years and have two sons Jeff (43) and Jason (38). Jason works for Wyoming Conference with kids that are mentally, physically, emotionally and sexualy abused and he is a 2X Wrestling All American and Hall of Famer from Binghamton University. How did you first learn about Cool Rides Online?
While surfing the Internet.
1986 Pontiac Trans Am
In January of 1995 I found my 1986 Trans Am in a used car lot. At the time it had 59,000 miles, was dark blue metallic w/silver ground effects and had been used as a pace car on the local track. It was pretty much a stock 305.
Since that day I have totally transformed her into a custom modified beautyâ€. In 2000 I had my 305 pulled and the car painted Ice Blue w/Pearl Dust and Ghost Flames by Dreamakers Kustoms in Endicott, NY. Upon completion of the paint I installed a custom built 350/420 Chevy Engine, a 700R4 transmission, Be Cool radiator, fiberglass ram air hood, Eagle alloy wheels and a custom dual muffler system w/dual Monza exhaust tips. The interior is stock except for Firebirds embroidered on the headrests, Panasonic stereo w/ MTX custom sub box and Kicker Amp and a BM Ratchet Shifter.
In 2010 a very good friend of mine helped me tuck all the engine wires into the subframe and I added a March Performance Serpentine Chromed Front End, Flamed Valve Covers & Breathers, Taylor Wires, Flamed Spark Plug Wire Loom, Flamed Radiator Cap and Lokar Transmission and Oil Dip Sticks.
In 2010 (Prior to the Engine Work)I won all local shows in my class and took a 1st place in 3rd Gen at the “Firebirds On The Lawn” in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Some type of LED lighting to highlight the Engine compartment and undercarriage. I would like to take it to next years Pontiac Nationals in Ohio.
Tucking all the engine wiring into the subframe.
Walking around a used car lot and spotting her for the 1st time dressed up as a NASCAR Pace Car.
What is your dream car to own if money was not an issue?
Something exotic like a Maserati…
Keep them out of the weather, whenever possible, especially snow and salt. Hand wash and wax. Keep the sun from fading the interior.
Pontiacs ROCK! 1st car I owned when I came back from VietNam was a 1968 Pontiac Firebird. NY weather rusted it out and that will not happen to my 1986. The car is 100% solid with 0% rust and it is true valued and insured for $40,000 by Haggerty.
