1968 Camaro RS

Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

My husband and I live in a small town in North Central Alabama, just north of Huntsville.  We have been married for over 18 years and have always shared a love for cars. I got sidetracked a bit, raising Paso Fino horses (still have them!), but have recently gotten back to “roots”, so to speak.  My husband always said that he wishes he had met me when I was into a different type of horse power! With that said, he knew that my heart longed for another ’68 Camaro. While at a large show last year, we found several cars for sale and one was the ’68 RS we have now.  He surprised me with it, knowing that for 30 years, I had always wanted another. We have been “playing” with the car ever since. It was about 85% complete but we still have some things to work on.  We are having a blast!

How did you first get interested in this hobby/passion?

I bought my first ’68 Camaro 30 years ago and fell in love with them as well as speed! I have had several “hot rods” as they called them back then, but always had a ‘68 Camaro.

What Rides do you currently own?

A 1968 Camaro RS. My husband drives a 2010 Mustang GT.

What do you like most about your Cool Rides?

I love talking to the people you meet. Everyone always has a story to share. Driving the car is THE best thing about owning it.

What is the best memory you have with your favorite ride?

My husband surprised me with the Camaro as a birthday present.

How do you store your ride(s) during infrequent use, and what maintenance tips can you provide for readers?

It stays covered in the garage when we don’t use it. I try to drive it often but the cover never goes back on unless it has been washed or at least dusted off first! Most everyone will agree that you really don’t need to let them sit idle for long. We ALWAYS use Adam’s Detail Products.

What was the first car you ever owned?

1968 Camaro SS

What is/was the BEST car ever made?

That one is difficult….The ’57 Bel Air, ‘67 Shelby GT 500, ‘68 Hemi Charger RT.  The list is long and of course, one would have to throw in a Camaro RS/SS!

What is/was the WORST car ever made?

The Yugo!

How did you first hear about the Cool Rides Online website?

Saw it on Facebook.

Is there anything else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?

No matter what the car, I love them all!  It just so happens that the ’68 Camaro stole my heart! As long as you love and enjoy your car, it’s all good.
