Featured Member of the Week: Big Boy
Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Bill Niland. I live in New Port Richey, Fl. Originally, I’m from Long Island, NY. I am 52 years young, married with 2 great children and 2 grand kids. I own Big Boy Airbrush and Auto Body located in Holiday, Fl. I have been custom painting and pinstriping cars since 1978. I Love custom rides and painting them, then seeing them at car shows.
How did you first get interested in this hobby/passion?
Since I was a little boy, I started customizing my hot wheels and matchbox cars. I always loved cars. When I hit 16, I painted my very first car, a 1972 Nova…It took off from there
What Rides do you currently own?
My car is a 1983 GMC Caballero (El Camino). It is fully customized inside and out. It has won tons of awards from Best of Show to Best Paint. As well, it won a spot in the official licensed General Motors 2011 calendar. I also won the cover of the El Camino 2012 calendar. I drive it daily to the shop and only to car shows. My other vehicle for shopping and errands is a 1999 Kia sportage, also customized with paint.
What do you like most about your current rides?
Everything! I built it myself with help from my employee Jeff Short, who is an auto-body tech as well. I love the attention the car brings and the great comments.
What is the best memory you have with your favorite ride?
So many…I can’t really pick one!
What was the first car you ever owned?
A 1972 Chevy Nova…..which I built and customized at 16 yrs old.
What is/was the BEST car ever made?
I am fond of the Plymouth Hemi Cuda.
What is/was the WORST car ever made?
How did you first hear about the Cool Rides Online website?
Through the El Camino Central forum, of which I am a member.
Is there anything else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?
I love cars…..but more than that, I love how I make my customers happy with their rides. It pleases me to get great remarks from my customers and to see them get excited over the paint jobs I do for them to make it their own personal ride of pride.
