Celebrity Car Collectors – John Cena
Our recent celebrity car collectors featured Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno. Today’s celebrity collector is WWE Superstar John Cena. Cena loves muscle cars. His collection reflects his patriotism and love of classic cars produced in the era when Detroit dominated the industry. Here is a closer look at some of his head-turning cars.
1971 AMC Hornet SC/360
John Cena drives a 1971 AMC Hornet SC/360 around town regularly. He loves it because of its simplicity. He claims that there are no bells and whistles on this car, but it is still fun to drive. He appreciates its compact design and big V8 engine. It gets a lot of attention because AMC cars are not common today.
1970 Plymouth Superbird
Another popular car in his collection is his 1970 Plymouth Superbird. He was drawn to its odd styling. It has a 19-inch metal nose cone and large aluminum wing on the back. Its roots are rich in NASCAR history, but this is why the car fails to handle well on the highway. The car was produced to race. None of the aerodynamics work until a driver is going at crazy speeds.
Although most of Cena’s cars are decades old, he does have a few newer vehicles in his collection. For example, his 2009 Corvette ZR1 is a favorite. Even though he was never a fan of Corvettes, he considers this car a breakout for Chevy. It provides a solid engine, handling, and overall powerful performance.
As an avid collector, Cena tries to keep all his cars in original condition. This preserves their places in history. Each of his vehicles comes with documented original motors, transmissions, and other features. Thanks to his career, he is able to travel throughout the country and visit various shows and events. This is the way he managed to find and buy most of the cars in his collection. He claims to love vehicles that are odd in shape, style, and design. His affection for Detroit runs deep and will always play an important part in his collection. He promises to continue his love of American muscle cars and expand his collection well into the future.
